About this scholarship
The Crain Scholarship will be awarded to students showing academic excellence, extracurricular activities and a commitment to the community. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable high school graduates to pursue courses of study that they would otherwise be unable to follow due to limited financial means. The selection committee looks for academic promise, documented perseverance in activities outside the classroom, the quality of the personal statement and personal characteristics such as honesty, good judgment and commitment to serving the community. Applicants must have demonstrated community involvement over a period of several years. They must be a graduating high school senior or graduate of a high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County, planning to enroll or enrolled in a four-year college or university.
