About this scholarship

Thanks to the generosity of ACSM past president Barry Franklin and his wife, Linda, three types of grants are offered under the Franklin Microgrant Program. These grants are meant to defray the costs of conducting Exercise Is Medicine-On Campus (EIM-OC) interventions, performing high-quality data collection and analysis of EIM-OC programming. The PA (Physical Activity) Promotion Grant is awarded to EIM-OC leadership teams aiming to provide, promote and/or evaluate physical activity or exercise opportunities for campus community members. The PA Screening and Education Grant is awarded to EIM-OC leadership teams aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of physical activity screening and education initiatives. The PA Assessment and Referral Grant is awarded to EIM-OC leadership teams aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of the campus health assessment and referral process and/or exercise prescription services. Applicants must be an ACSM national member in good standing before applying for funding, including international applicants. ACSM chapter membership alone does not fulfill this requirement. Applicant's institution must be a registered EIM-OC institution. Applicants should be full-time faculty or staff of the applicant institution. Applications must indicate how students will be involved in the proposed initiatives. Applicants must submit a letter of support. Please visit the award's website for more information.
