About this scholarship

The Ralph Hale and Martha L. Ruppert Educational Scholarship will be awarded to "late-bloomers" with academic promise who struggled in high school and early in their college career. The scholarship program was established to help "late bloomers," those students who show academic promise and improvement during the last years of high school or in the first few years of college, but are unlikely to receive other scholarships because of their low GPAs. Applicants must be a "late bloomer" who demonstrates academic promise and continuous grade point average improvement during high school or college. They must demonstrate community involvement. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or graduate of a public or private high school in San Mateo County, San Francisco County, or Santa Clara County, planning to enroll or enrolled in college, university or vocational school. They must also be United States citizens or eligible non-citizens (eligible non-citizens include United States legal residents and A.B. 540 students). Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Silicon Valley Community Foundation for more information.
