About this scholarship
Sophie's Live Out Loud Award, worth up to $5,000, is open to incoming undergraduates who have graduated high school or received their GED in Washington D.C., or the surrounding areas of Maryland and Virginia. Applicants must be part of the LGBTQ+ community, demonstrate leadership in the community, and be aged 24 or younger. The scholarship was named in honor of Sophie Magerl, a young LGBTQ+ woman who never let her cancer diagnosis stop her creativity.
