About this scholarship

The Braly Geneva UNC Teaching Scholarship Fund is a one-time $5,000 award established in memory of Geneva Smithlin, sister of Braly Family Foundation founder Henry Braly. Geneva earned her teaching degree from the University of Northern Colorado (formerly Colorado State College) in 1963, and this scholarship honors her legacy by supporting current UNC students pursuing a bachelor's degree in teaching. Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time with at least 12 credit hours per semester, have completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours, and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Finalists may be asked to submit a short video as part of the selection process.
